We have outlined below the frequency of servicing that your flue requires as recommended by The British Government.

• Coal Fires, Stoves and Cooking Appliances - twice a year while in constant use
• Wood Fires and Wood Burning Stoves - four times a year while in constant use
• Gas Flues - once a year
• Oil Flues - once a year

If you only use your coal or wood fire for the winter months it is sensible to get them swept and vacuumed at least once a year and preferably twice if you are burning wood. Remember that wood burnt should be seasoned and dried ideally for one year before use, otherwise the fire burns at the wrong temperature and you get much heavier build up of deposits in the flue and a much higher risk of chimney fire.
